                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  the men and women who have served with courage and distinction as
    1-3  members of our nation's intelligence agencies both during World War
    1-4  II and since that momentous conflict; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Faced with a dire threat to their liberties during
    1-6  World War II, many Americans upheld the cause of freedom as members
    1-7  of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Office of Strategic
    1-8  Services, and the intelligence and counterintelligence branches of
    1-9  the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, and the many sacrifices of
   1-10  those valorous individuals were an essential element in securing
   1-11  final victory; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Our intelligence community was expanded after World
   1-13  War II to include the Central Intelligence Agency, branches of the
   1-14  U.S. Air Force, the National Security Agency, and the Defense
   1-15  Intelligence Agency, and each of these organizations has made
   1-16  significant contributions in preserving our nation's safety; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Each day, many operatives in our intelligence
   1-18  services place their lives in danger as they fulfill their duty by
   1-19  working against tyranny, terrorism, drug trafficking, and
   1-20  proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, It is indeed appropriate that, as Americans
   1-22  celebrate the 50th anniversary of the conclusion of World War II,
   1-23  special tribute be paid to those individuals who have served in our
   1-24  intelligence agencies, both during World War II and since that
    2-1  time, and that their many vital accomplishments be given special
    2-2  legislative recognition on this notable occasion; now, therefore,
    2-3  be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-5  Legislature hereby honor the men and women who have labored
    2-6  tirelessly as members of our country's intelligence services and
    2-7  whose sterling efforts have helped to preserve our freedoms,
    2-8  security, and democratic way of life for future generations.
