                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The passing of Barbara Schoolcraft on December 31,
    1-2  1993, at the age of 65, brought a great loss to the many friends
    1-3  and relatives of this lovely lady; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Universal City,
    1-5  Mrs. Schoolcraft enjoyed a deeply fulfilling career in real estate,
    1-6  and she distinguished herself as one of the first women in South
    1-7  Texas to become a real estate broker; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, She was deeply committed to educational issues as
    1-9  well and served as a trustee on the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City
   1-10  School Board for 12 years; extremely supportive of her children,
   1-11  she was a familiar face at many a band and football booster meeting
   1-12  and graciously served as a Cub Scout den mother; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Mrs. Schoolcraft also was well regarded in political
   1-14  circles for her outstanding service to the Republican Party and was
   1-15  a member of the State Republican Executive Committee for 10 years;
   1-16  her garage became the first Republican polling place established in
   1-17  northeastern Bexar County in 1960, and she was instrumental in the
   1-18  campaigns of her son, former State Representative Alan Schoolcraft,
   1-19  from 1980 to 1992; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, She worked for the betterment of her community
   1-21  through her service to numerous civic organizations, including the
   1-22  San Antonio Symphony Association and the Pink Ladies Hospital
   1-23  Auxiliary of the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Hospital, and she was an
   1-24  ardent supporter of animal welfare organizations; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, This warm and gracious lady touched the lives of
    2-2  many people during her lifetime, and though her presence has been
    2-3  deeply missed, her memory has endured in the hearts and minds of
    2-4  all those who came to know and love her; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-6  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Barbara Schoolcraft
    2-7  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
    2-8  husband, Tom Schoolcraft; to her sons, the Honorable Alan
    2-9  Schoolcraft and Tom Schoolcraft, Jr.; to her daughter, Terry
   2-10  Schoolcraft; to her mother, Alene Fell; and to her many other
   2-11  friends and relatives; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-13  prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas
   2-14  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-15  Barbara Schoolcraft.
