                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, A team of gifted students from Salado High School
    1-2  recently achieved outstanding success by winning the University
    1-3  Interscholastic League 1995 Academic State Championship in
    1-4  Conference 2A; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The academic championship is an exciting competition
    1-6  that tests the knowledge of contestants in 22 demanding subject
    1-7  areas, including math, science, language, business, debate, drama,
    1-8  journalism, and social studies, and requires hours of diligent
    1-9  preparation and sharp minds for participants to excel; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, The four-member team of juniors and seniors from
   1-11  Salado High School surpassed students from other schools in
   1-12  Conference 2A to capture victory, displaying particular brilliance
   1-13  in the math, number sense, and persuasive speaking contests; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Coaches Dennis Cabaniss and Virginia Guess are to be
   1-15  commended for providing their young charges with the drive and
   1-16  inspiration to do their very best in this rigorous match of
   1-17  intellectual skill; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, The success of the Salado High School academic team
   1-19  is directly attributable to the superb performances of team members
   1-20  Kyle Anderson, Brent Cabaniss, Ricky Engleking, and Vinny Michna;
   1-21  and
   1-22        WHEREAS, These exceptional young Texans have brought
   1-23  well-deserved recognition to their school and community with their
   1-24  triumph in scholastic competition, and their intelligence and
    2-1  determination indeed merit special legislative praise and
    2-2  acknowledgement; now, therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-4  Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Salado High
    2-5  School academic team on their first-place finish in the UIL
    2-6  Academic State Championship in Conference 2A and commend coaches
    2-7  Cabaniss and Guess, principal Ed Thomas, and superintendent Dr.
    2-8  Steven Ervin for their part in helping to ensure the team's
    2-9  success; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for the academic team members and their coaches and that a
   2-12  copy be prepared for prominent display at Salado High School as an
   2-13  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
