                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, On July 16-19, 1995, the National Council of La Raza
    1-2  will be holding its annual conference in Dallas, and the event
    1-3  promises to be  a worthwhile and memorable experience for all who
    1-4  attend; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A nonprofit organization, the National Council of La
    1-6  Raza was founded in 1968 to combat poverty and discrimination in
    1-7  the Hispanic community and today pursues a broad program of
    1-8  research, policy analysis, advocacy, media exposure, and other
    1-9  vital projects that have placed the organization at the forefront
   1-10  of groups working to improve opportunities for Hispanics; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Considered the leading Hispanic think tank in
   1-12  America, the National Council of La Raza has successfully promoted
   1-13  the interests of Hispanic citizens and advanced the cause of civil
   1-14  rights in our country, and the organization is indeed deserving of
   1-15  our highest praise and recognition for its outstanding
   1-16  contributions in this regard; now, therefore, be it
   1-17        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-18  Legislature hereby commend the National Council of La Raza for more
   1-19  than a quarter-century of distinguished service in behalf of the
   1-20  Hispanic community of this state and nation; and, be it further
   1-21        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   1-22  prepared for the National Council of La Raza as an expression of
   1-23  highest regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
