                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Hawley High School Lady Cats girls' softball
    1-2  team has reached the zenith of success by winning the 1995
    1-3  University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 3A state
    1-4  championship; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Appearing in their first-ever state tournament, the
    1-6  Hawley High School team refused to be denied, overcoming all
    1-7  opposition to claim the coveted crown and finish their season with
    1-8  a phenomenal record of 20 wins against only two defeats; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The season's superb accomplishments were the result
   1-10  of a total team effort from Lady Cats Julie Murphy, Kristi Burrow,
   1-11  Tiffany McCarty, Robyn Vinson, Erica Abney, Lacy Maberry, Amanda
   1-12  Cobb, Jennie Enfield, Shawna McCoy, April Newman, Jodi Jordan,
   1-13  Joanie Greenwood, Jana Cox, and Leigh Knight; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Head coach Rita Jordan schooled her charges in
   1-15  softball fundamentals and inspired them to perform at the highest
   1-16  level and she was ably supported in her efforts by assistant coach
   1-17  Gary Womack; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, These exemplary young women are a source of
   1-19  tremendous pride to the students and faculty of Hawley High School
   1-20  as well as their many supporters in the community, and their
   1-21  superior accomplishments are indeed worthy of special legislative
   1-22  recognition; now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-24  Legislature hereby congratulate the Hawley High School girls'
    2-1  softball team on winning the 1995 UIL Class 3A state championship
    2-2  and extend to the  team best wishes for continued success in the
    2-3  future; and, be it further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-5  prepared for the team members and coaching staff and for prominent
    2-6  display at Hawley High School as an expression of high regard by
    2-7  the Texas House of Representatives.
