H.R. No. 1076 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Snyder High School Drama Department recently won 1-2 the 1995 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 4A One-Act 1-3 Play competition with their production of "A Midsummer Night's 1-4 Dream," marking their 13th state championship in this event; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Under the guidance of drama director Jerry Worsham, 1-6 this talented team earned a standing ovation from the packed Bass 1-7 Concert Hall audience, which included a large delegation of Snyder 1-8 residents and Snyder High School alumni; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Further adding to the team's sense of triumph were 1-10 the individual wins of two of their castmates in the acting 1-11 categories; cast member Kevin Alejandro took home the Samuel French 1-12 Award as best actor, while Mark Bullard was named to the All-Star 1-13 Cast; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The award-winning cast also included Jiletta Kubena, 1-15 Marc Sparlin, Amanda Carter, Buddy Hilburn, Matt Parker, Katie 1-16 Thornton, Stephen Taylor, Josh Palmer, Emily Zeck, Jannica 1-17 Northerns, Amy Patterson, Michael McQuerry, and Jennifer Hancock; 1-18 they were ably supported in their production by their understudies 1-19 and crew, which included Ryan Landes, Valerie Sanchez, John Michel, 1-20 Jennifer Lathem, Jared Dennis, Melanie Gibson, Robert Nitsch, Greg 1-21 Jones, Gina Bark, and Marischka Trach; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Snyder High School's unprecedented success in the 1-23 State UIL One-Act Play competition is a direct result of the hard 1-24 work, dedication, and discipline of its bright young students, and 2-1 they are indeed deserving of special praise and recognition on the 2-2 occasion of their most recent honor; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby honor the members of the Snyder High School 2-5 One-Act Play troupe on winning the 1995 University Interscholastic 2-6 League Class 4A state competition and extend to them warmest best 2-7 wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for the members of the cast and crew and for prominent 2-10 display at Snyder High School as an expression of high regard by 2-11 the Texas House of Representatives.
