R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
1-2 Saraeli M. Gonzales for her many achievements and congratulate her
1-3 on the occasion of her high school graduation and her receipt of
1-4 the International Bank of Commerce's "We Do More" award; and
1-5 WHEREAS, A student at McAllen High School, Ms. Gonzales has
1-6 distinguished herself through her outstanding academic abilities
1-7 and was a member of her school's accounting team in University
1-8 Interscholastic League competition; and
1-9 WHEREAS, Her other extracurricular activities include working
1-10 as a reporter for KMAC Broadcasting and serving as a member of the
1-11 student council and the National Broadcasting Society; a talented
1-12 sportswoman as well, she has competed on the school's varsity golf
1-13 team; and
1-14 WHEREAS, Highly regarded by her peers, Ms. Gonzales
1-15 graciously served on the senior committee, and she has worked for
1-16 the benefit of her fellow students as a member of the school's
1-17 "Help One Student to Succeed" program; and
1-18 WHEREAS, Her outstanding accomplishments have earned her
1-19 well-deserved acclaim, and she was inducted into McAllen High
1-20 School's Senior Hall of Fame; and
1-21 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to the McAllen community,
1-22 Ms. Gonzales has generously given of her time, talents, and
1-23 energies to volunteer with a number of worthy causes, including
1-24 American Pride: Kids Against Drugs, the Horizon Youth Service
2-1 Center, and the Junior Service League; in addition, this admirable
2-2 young woman served food to the needy during the week of
2-3 Thanksgiving; and
2-4 WHEREAS, A warm and compassionate individual, she has drawn
2-5 upon her experiences in overcoming a series of physical challenges
2-6 to work for the benefit of others; she has volunteered as a
2-7 counselor-in-training, and she intends to pursue her interest in
2-8 the field of psychology by earning a doctorate and opening her own
2-9 clinic; and
2-10 WHEREAS, Throughout her lifetime, Ms. Gonzales' unsinkable
2-11 spirit and courage have challenged her to always "do more," and it
2-12 gives the members of this chamber great pleasure to honor her for
2-13 her remarkable achievements; now, therefore, be it
2-14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
2-15 Legislature hereby congratulate Saraeli M. Gonzales on the occasion
2-16 of her graduation from McAllen High School and her receipt of the
2-17 "We Do More" award and extend to her warmest best wishes for
2-18 continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors; and,
2-19 be it further
2-20 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-21 prepared for Ms. Gonzales as an expression of high regard by the
2-22 Texas House of Representatives.
