H.R. No. 1082 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The tragic passing of Rodney Ryan Perez on October 1-2 12, 1994, at the age of 24, brought great sadness to the many 1-3 friends and relatives of this talented and beloved young man; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A native of Edinburg, Mr. Perez was a 1988 graduate 1-5 of Edinburg High School, and during his tenure there he 1-6 distinguished himself as a gifted thespian through his outstanding 1-7 performances in University Interscholastic League Duet and One-Act 1-8 Play competition and as a member of the 1988 All-Star Cast; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Mr. Perez went on to study radio-television-film at 1-10 The University of Texas--Pan American, where he continued to excel, 1-11 applying his considerable talent to directing and producing audio 1-12 and video projects; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Blessed with a bright sense of humor and a level of 1-14 maturity beyond his years, Mr. Perez was popular with his peers, 1-15 who often sought his advice and valued his companionship; and 1-16 WHEREAS, To honor the memory of their son, Ramiro and Linda 1-17 Perez have established the Rodney Ryan Perez Memorial Drama 1-18 Scholarship at Edinburg High School so that other promising young 1-19 artists will have an opportunity to pursue their artistic 1-20 aspirations; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Rodney Ryan Perez was a remarkable young man who 1-22 brought joy to all whose lives he touched during his years on this 1-23 earth, and the memory of his talent, enthusiasm, and warmth will 1-24 continue to endure as a guide and inspiration to those he left 2-1 behind for many years to come; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-3 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Rodney Ryan Perez and 2-4 extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his 2-5 parents, Ramiro and Linda Perez; to his brother, Romeo Perez; to 2-6 his sister, Rhonda Roberta Perez; and to his many other friends and 2-7 relatives; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas 2-10 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-11 Rodney Ryan Perez.
