No. 1083 74R13843 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 William Henry Schwerdtfeger on his outstanding achievement in 1-3 attaining the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout; and 1-4 WHEREAS, This exceptional young man has demonstrated 1-5 exemplary dedication to the high ideals of scouting and commendable 1-6 perseverance in the pursuit of his goals; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is an extremely rare 1-8 honor, bestowed on only a handful of those who enter the scouting 1-9 movement, and by successfully fulfilling the rank's difficult 1-10 requirements, William Henry Schwerdtfeger has achieved a truly 1-11 remarkable feat; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Schwerdtfeger has served as a positive 1-13 role model to his fellow scouts in Troop 151, exhibiting 1-14 outstanding leadership as senior patrol leader, assistant senior 1-15 patrol leader, patrol leader, quartermaster, and librarian; he also 1-16 earned 23 merit badges and, in 1990, was elected to the Order of 1-17 the Arrow; and 1-18 WHEREAS, He has consistently sought to broaden his horizons 1-19 through the avenue of scouting, attending five full summer camps, 1-20 during which he achieved the status of honor camper on two 1-21 occasions, and participating in two Philmont high adventure trips; 1-22 and 1-23 WHEREAS, For his Eagle Scout project, Mr. Schwerdtfeger 1-24 organized the painting of much-needed parking stripes on the lot of 2-1 the Caring Place in Georgetown, making it considerably safer and 2-2 more convenient for patrons there; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Balancing his dedication to scouting with a 2-4 comparable commitment to other pursuits, he was an outstanding 2-5 student at Jarrell High School where he pursued athletic excellence 2-6 as a player on both the football and the baseball teams and was 2-7 active in the Spanish Club, FHA, and FFA, which he served as 2-8 president, and was elected vice president of his senior class; and 2-9 WHEREAS, In a traditional ceremony of the Eagle Court of 2-10 Honor that was held on May 21, 1995, Eagle Scout Schwerdtfeger was 2-11 duly recognized for his superb achievements and awarded his silver 2-12 insignia, and he is indeed worthy of special legislative 2-13 recognition to commemorate this significant accomplishment; now, 2-14 therefore, be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-16 Legislature hereby commend William Henry Schwerdtfeger on his 2-17 noteworthy achievement in becoming an Eagle Scout; and, be it 2-18 further 2-19 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-20 prepared for Eagle Scout Schwerdtfeger as an expression of high 2-21 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
