                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The passing of Daniel Reece Currens on May 21, 1995,
    1-2  at the age of 62, has brought a great loss to the many people whose
    1-3  lives were touched by this remarkable gentleman; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A native Texan, he was born in Dallas on August 3,
    1-5  1932, and earned his high school diploma from Woodrow Wilson High
    1-6  School; continuing his education, he went on to graduate from Texas
    1-7  A&M University and became a petroleum engineer with Amoco Oil
    1-8  Company; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, During a distinguished tenure with that enterprise
   1-10  that would span nearly four decades, Mr. Currens was instrumental
   1-11  in the development of the Bravo Dome carbon dioxide gas field in
   1-12  New Mexico and the construction of a pipeline from the project to
   1-13  the Permian Basin; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Mr. Currens was a man who not only lived life, but
   1-15  embraced it to the fullest; while he remained a master gardener
   1-16  throughout the years, he continually embarked on new challenges as
   1-17  well, becoming an avid tennis player late in life, and graduating
   1-18  with honors from the University of Houston's Bates College of Law
   1-19  in 1981, having pursued this demanding course of study not because
   1-20  he sought employment as an attorney but rather because it was an
   1-21  area that held great interest for him; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Adored by his family and many friends, he shared a
   1-23  happy and rewarding marriage with his wife, Hester, and cherished
   1-24  the moments he shared with his children and grandchildren, setting
    2-1  high standards as a parent, friend, and citizen to which all may
    2-2  aspire; now, therefore, be it
    2-3        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-4  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Daniel Reece Currens
    2-5  and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family:  to his
    2-6  wife, Hester Currens; to his sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy
    2-7  Currens, Charles and Kim Currens, Christopher and Elizabeth
    2-8  Currens, and Michael and Leslie Currens; to his children by
    2-9  marriage, Mark Jones and Patricia Jones Foley and her husband, Cash
   2-10  Foley; to his brother, Thomas B. Currens; to his beloved grandsons,
   2-11  Carsten Currens and Christopher Currens; and to the many other
   2-12  friends and relatives of this fine man; and, be it further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-14  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
   2-15  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-16  Daniel Reece Currens.
