                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  the winner of the 1995 National Basketball Association (NBA)
    1-3  Western Conference championship series on attaining the conference
    1-4  title; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Vying for this year's Western Conference crown are
    1-6  the Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs and both of these
    1-7  proud franchises have represented the State of Texas with
    1-8  distinction during the 1994-95 NBA campaign; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The defending NBA champion Houston Rockets have
   1-10  repeatedly faced elimination during the course of the 1995 NBA
   1-11  playoffs, but this determined group of athletes has demonstrated
   1-12  true championship heart, overcoming both the Utah Jazz and the
   1-13  Phoenix Suns to keep their dream of repeating as NBA champions
   1-14  alive; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Sporting the finest overall record achieved by any
   1-16  team during the 1994-95 regular season, the San Antonio Spurs
   1-17  handily defeated both the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers
   1-18  to win a coveted berth in the Western Conference championship
   1-19  series; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Hakeem Olajuwon of the Rockets and David Robinson of
   1-21  the Spurs are arguably the two finest players in the NBA and each
   1-22  of these superb athletes has achieved an outstanding level of
   1-23  individual success while leading their respective teams to the NBA
   1-24  Western Conference finals; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Both the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets have
    2-2  thrilled basketball fans across the state and nation during the
    2-3  course of the 1994-95 season, and the winner of this struggle for
    2-4  basketball supremacy in the State of Texas truly merits special
    2-5  legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby congratulate the 1995 NBA Western Conference
    2-8  champions, declare them "Basketball Champions of the State of
    2-9  Texas," and extend to them best wishes for continued success as the
   2-10  state's representative in the NBA championship finals series; and,
   2-11  be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-13  prepared for the winner of the 1995 NBA Western Conference
   2-14  championship series as an expression of high regard by the Texas
   2-15  House of Representatives.
