H.R. No. 1100 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Joya T. Hayes for her participation in the Texas Legislative 1-3 Internship Program; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A senior at Huston-Tillotson College, she is 1-5 majoring in mass communications and expects to graduate in December 1-6 1995, and she has positively affected an array of issues vital to 1-7 the State of Texas as an intern with our esteemed colleague, 1-8 Representative Gerard Torres; and 1-9 WHEREAS, This well-rounded individual is a member of Women in 1-10 Science and Technology and graciously serves as a counselor with 1-11 her school's Peer Assistance League; clearly destined to become a 1-12 future leader, she distinguished herself as president of her 1-13 freshman class and currently serves as president of the Student 1-14 Government Association; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Active in community and state political issues as 1-16 well, she has generously given of her time, talents, and energies 1-17 to volunteer with several political campaigns; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Her outstanding achievements have earned her 1-19 well-deserved acclaim; she received the Emerging Leader Award from 1-20 the Texas Association of Developing Colleges in both 1993 and 1994 1-21 and was honored with the National Collegiate Minority Leadership 1-22 Award in 1995; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Ms. Hayes has demonstrated exceptional intelligence 1-24 and initiative in pursuing a variety of academic, career, and civic 2-1 goals, and she is indeed deserving of special legislative 2-2 recognition for her contributions to her community and state; now, 2-3 therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby honor Joya T. Hayes for her service as a 2-6 legislative intern and extend to her warmest best wishes for 2-7 continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors; and, 2-8 be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Ms. Hayes as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-11 House of Representatives.
