R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the State
1-2 of Texas, 74th Legislature, Regular Session, 1995, That House Rule
1-3 13, Section 9(a), be suspended in part as provided by House Rule
1-4 13, Section 9(f), to enable the conference committee appointed to
1-5 resolve the differences on Senate Bill No. 646 to consider and take
1-6 action on the following matter:
1-7 House Rule 13, Section 9(a)(2), is suspended to permit the
1-8 committee to omit text not in disagreement in Section 1 of the
1-9 bill, which amends Section 657.001(2), Government Code, and to
1-10 renumber the other sections of the bill as appropriate. The
1-11 omitted text reads as follows:
1-12 SECTION 1. Section 657.001(2), Government Code, is amended
1-13 to read as follows:
1-14 (2) "Public entity" means a public department,
1-15 commission, board, office, or agency, including:
1-16 (A) an institution of higher education, as
1-17 defined by Section 61.003, Education Code;
1-18 (B) a governmental body, as defined by Chapter
1-19 551 or 552; and
1-20 (C) a public entity that receives money from the
1-21 state or federal government, directly or indirectly, under the
1-22 federal Job Training Partnership Act (29 U.S.C. Section 1501 et
1-23 seq.).
1-24 Explanation: This change is necessary to ensure that the
2-1 legislation applies only to certain public entities.
