H.R. No. 1126 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Communities throughout the State of Texas will 1-2 proudly celebrate the Lone Star State's rich multicultural heritage 1-3 with colorful and fun-filled celebrations of the state's many 1-4 historically and culturally significant holidays; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Ranking high among these holiday celebrations are 1-6 the annual Cinco de Mayo festivities that, in communities large and 1-7 small, are often a high point in the yearly calendar of community 1-8 events; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Sunset High School is among the many schools, 1-10 neighborhood groups, businesses, and civic organizations that have 1-11 made Cinco de Mayo a major focal point for their community 1-12 activities and made it possible for people to come together in a 1-13 spirit of fun, fellowship, and cultural celebration; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The students and faculty of Sunset High School will 1-15 commemorate Cinco de Mayo 1996 as part of this cultural celebration 1-16 and recognition of Hispanic heritage; now, therefore, be it 1-17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 1-18 Legislature hereby commend Sunset High School on its efforts and 1-19 strong commitment to heighten the cultural awareness and 1-20 understanding of the Mexican-American community of this state and 1-21 nation; and, be it further 1-22 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-23 prepared as an expression of high esteem by the Texas House of 1-24 Representatives.
