                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Hardin Intermediate School in Duncanville has been
    1-2  honored by the U.S. Department of Education as a Drug-Free School,
    1-3  and this special recognition is indeed well deserved; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, By according this prestigious accolade, the
    1-5  Drug-Free School Recognition Program seeks to honor those select
    1-6  schools from across the nation that have implemented comprehensive
    1-7  drug prevention and intervention programs that have proven
    1-8  effective in preventing or substantially reducing the use of
    1-9  alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs among the student population; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, In addition, winning schools must have demonstrated
   1-11  a reduction in acts of violence and disruptive behavior on campus
   1-12  and have put into place ongoing plans for the schools to remain
   1-13  drug free; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, With its acknowledgement as a Drug-Free School,
   1-15  Hardin Intermediate School has proven to be a national leader in
   1-16  the war against drugs and violence in our schools and has become a
   1-17  model school for others to emulate; the school was one of only 113
   1-18  schools to achieve this distinction this year, and its selection is
   1-19  a great honor for the school, the city of Duncanville, and the
   1-20  State of Texas; now, therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-22  Legislature hereby commend Hardin Intermediate School on its
   1-23  selection as a Drug-Free School by the U.S. Department of Education
   1-24  and extend to the school's students, staff, faculty, and
    2-1  administration continued success with this worthy endeavor; and, be
    2-2  it further
    2-3        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-4  prepared for prominent display at Hardin Intermediate School as an
    2-5  expression of highest regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
