No. 1138 74R14142 KMP-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The students of the Rule Independent School District 1-2 recently impressed judges and peers alike with their outstanding 1-3 success at this year's University Interscholastic League (UIL) 1-4 State Championships in Austin, placing second overall in the Class 1-5 A category; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Bringing energy and imagination to their impressive 1-7 production of Steel Magnolias, the cast and crew were honored with 1-8 a first-place finish in the Class A one-act play competition, much 1-9 to the delight of their director, Bobby Robinson; dependent on the 1-10 talents of Nicole Holcomb, Amy Tibbets, Kacy Baitz, Susan Saffel, 1-11 Denise Wilson, Isabell Baez, Sara Kittley, Lisa Shawver, and Kayla 1-12 Allison, the play's resounding success was further embellished when 1-13 three cast members were recognized individually for their superb 1-14 performances: Julie Saffel was named to the All-Star Cast, while 1-15 Stephanie Stegemoeller and Megan Jones received All-Star Cast 1-16 honorable mention; and 1-17 WHEREAS, The students at this remarkable school also fared 1-18 extremely well in academic competitions: Allison Pike, Cory 1-19 Robinson, and Denise Wilson were named the state's top calculator 1-20 applications team, while Allison Pike won the individual calculator 1-21 applications competition and Cory Robinson placed first in the 1-22 individual science category; Kacy Baitz, Allison Pike, and Cory 1-23 Robinson achieved a second-place finish in the computer science 1-24 competition, with Cory Robinson taking home fourth-place honors in 2-1 the individual mathematics event, and the overall UIL team, which 2-2 included Denise Wilson, Allison Pike, Kacy Baitz, and Cory 2-3 Robinson, also performed well under the able guidance of coaches 2-4 Alice Jones and Jerry Cannon; and 2-5 WHEREAS, These young Texans have all brought acclaim and 2-6 recognition to their classmates, parents, and teachers of the Rule 2-7 Independent School District and to their community as a whole, and 2-8 they are indeed deserving of special commendation at this time; 2-9 now, therefore, be it 2-10 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-11 Legislature hereby congratulate the students of the Rule 2-12 Independent School District on their extraordinary achievements at 2-13 this year's UIL competitions; and, be it further 2-14 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared 2-15 for these fine students as an expression of high regard by the 2-16 Texas House of Representatives.
