H.R. No. 1142 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two outstanding Texans 1-2 who have shared 60 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a 1-3 memorable occasion worthy of special recognition; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Roy and Agnes Maloney Pitts will have the privilege 1-5 of commemorating such a momentous event in their lives when they 1-6 celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on July 13, 1995; and 1-7 WHEREAS, United in matrimony at Sacred Heart Cathedral in 1-8 Dallas in 1935, the couple has enjoyed an enduring relationship 1-9 that has grown in love and mutual respect with each passing year 1-10 and that has been blessed by the birth of three cherished children; 1-11 and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mr. Pitts has enjoyed distinguished careers with the 1-13 Lone Star Gas Company and Enserch Corporation; not content with a 1-14 sedentary retirement, he remains active in various business 1-15 ventures today; and 1-16 WHEREAS, His lovely and gracious wife also has been well 1-17 regarded throughout the community as a devoted wife and mother and 1-18 as a loyal friend who always makes time in her busy day to offer 1-19 fellowship to others; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Pitts are loving and devoted parents 1-21 who take great pride and pleasure in the accomplishments of each of 1-22 their children: their daughter Rosemary is married to Rufus O. 1-23 "Bob" Burns, Jr., and is a valued member of her Danville, 1-24 California, community; one of their twin sons, the Reverend John 2-1 Robert Pitts, is married to Barbara Drake Pitts and serves both as 2-2 rector of St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Austin and as chaplain 2-3 of the Texas Senate, while their other son, Representative James 2-4 Ray Pitts, is married to Evelyn Eastham Pitts and distinguishes 2-5 himself as a member of this chamber; and 2-6 WHEREAS, Over the years their close-knit family has continued 2-7 to grow, and Mr. and Mrs. Pitts now delight in the company of six 2-8 grandchildren: Michael Bradley Burns, John Robert Pitts, Jr., James 2-9 Drake Pitts, Evelyn Duffy Pitts, Ashley Eastham Pitts, and James 2-10 Ryan Pitts and mourn the passing of Erin Colleen Burns; and 2-11 WHEREAS, Built on a foundation of mutual love, trust, and 2-12 support, their life together has been a source of joy and 2-13 inspiration to the many people who have come to know and love 2-14 them; now, therefore, be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-16 Legislature hereby congratulate Roy and Agnes Maloney Pitts on the 2-17 occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them 2-18 warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further 2-19 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-20 prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Pitts as an expression of high regard by 2-21 the Texas House of Representatives.
