H.R. No. 1162
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Kathleen Leos for her many outstanding contributions to the field
    1-3  of public education and congratulate her on her recent election to
    1-4  the Dallas Independent School District School Board; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A graduate of George Washington University, Ms. Leos
    1-6  works with Dallas Services for Visually Impaired Children as the
    1-7  director of day care for special needs infants and children; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, She has been involved in numerous education issues
    1-9  throughout the Dallas community, and she was instrumental in
   1-10  efforts to bring $22 million in school bond funds to the area; in
   1-11  addition, this remarkable woman established an English as a Second
   1-12  Language program and created an extremely popular after-school
   1-13  program with the local YWCA; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Ms. Leos continues to work for the betterment of
   1-15  public education as president of the Parent-Teacher Association at
   1-16  James W. Fannin Elementary School, and she has served as a
   1-17  community liaison for North Dallas high schools and as a volunteer
   1-18  with the district's Commission for Educational Excellence; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Ms. Leos has worked tirelessly for the benefit of
   1-20  teachers, students, and parents throughout the Dallas area, and she
   1-21  is indeed worthy of special recognition for her noteworthy
   1-22  contributions; now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-24  Legislature hereby honor Kathleen Leos for her many significant
    2-1  contributions to the field of public education and congratulate her
    2-2  on her recent election to the Dallas Independent School District
    2-3  School Board; and, be it further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-5  prepared for Ms. Leos as an expression of high regard by the Texas
    2-6  House of Representatives.
