H.R. No. 1175 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Carla Fahey for her years of dedicated community service and many 1-3 significant contributions to the field of public education; and 1-4 WHEREAS, A graduate of East Texas State University, 1-5 Mrs. Fahey taught for six years at Dallas's Samuell High School, 1-6 where she also sponsored a variety of extracurricular activities 1-7 and coached girls' athletic teams; since 1984, she has worked for 1-8 the betterment of public education as a member of the 1-9 Parent-Teachers Association, and she has served as president of the 1-10 Duncanville Independent School District Council of PTAs for the 1-11 past two years; and 1-12 WHEREAS, In recognition of her hard work and dedication, she 1-13 was made an honorary life member of both the Texas and national 1-14 PTAs, and she has further left an indelible mark on education 1-15 issues through her service to the Duncanville Chamber of Commerce 1-16 Education Committee; she also gives generously of her time, 1-17 talents, and energies to volunteer with Best Southwest Scholars 1-18 Program, Positive Peer Leaders, and Project Graduation; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Her exemplary service to the community earned her 1-20 the prestigious title of Duncanville's Woman of the Year in both 1-21 1994 and 1995, and she was nominated for J. C. Penney's Golden Rule 1-22 Award in 1994; and 1-23 WHEREAS, For many years, Mrs. Fahey has worked tirelessly for 1-24 the benefit of public education in the Duncanville community, and 2-1 it is indeed appropriate that the members of this chamber join in 2-2 recognizing her outstanding efforts; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-4 Legislature hereby honor Carla Fahey for her exceptional 2-5 contributions to the field of education and extend to her warmest 2-6 best wishes for continued success and happiness in all her future 2-7 endeavors; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mrs. Fahey as an expression of high regard by the 2-10 Texas House of Representatives.
