                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, On March 12, 1995, the brethren of Sweet Home
    1-2  Baptist Church joined together to express appreciation to their
    1-3  beloved pastor, Dr. Ronald J. Byrd, for his more than six years of
    1-4  exceptional service to his congregation and to the entire Round
    1-5  Rock community; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, A native of Gary, Indiana, Pastor Byrd is a
    1-7  sociology and welfare graduate of the former Bishop College of
    1-8  Dallas and has also earned a master's degree in public
    1-9  administration and personnel management at the University of North
   1-10  Texas in Denton; educated at Dallas Baptist University, the
   1-11  Southern Bible Institute, and the Perkins School of Theology at
   1-12  Southern Methodist University, this remarkable clergyman also holds
   1-13  a doctor of ministry degree from the University of Biblical Studies
   1-14  and Seminary in Bethany, Oklahoma; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Ordained at the Golden Gate Missionary Baptist
   1-16  Church in Dallas, Dr. Byrd assumed his current position as pastor
   1-17  of Sweet Home Baptist Church on November 21, 1988, and since that
   1-18  time has helped this House of God to flourish; under his able
   1-19  guidance, the church has established a successful transportation
   1-20  ministry, health awareness ministry, radio broadcast ministry, and
   1-21  audio and video tape ministry and has expanded its facilities to
   1-22  meet the needs of its growing congregation; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Pastor Byrd's outstanding spiritual leadership,
   1-24  understanding guidance, and strong faith are a source of tremendous
    2-1  inspiration and enlightenment to all those who know him; on March
    2-2  12, 1995, the Sweet Home Baptist Church congregation sponsored the
    2-3  6th Appreciation Service for this noteworthy minister, and it is
    2-4  indeed fitting that the members of this house join in honoring a
    2-5  truly exemplary Texan; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby commend Dr. Ronald J. Byrd for his years of
    2-8  exceptional service to the congregation of the Sweet Home Baptist
    2-9  Church of Round Rock; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for Pastor Byrd as an expression of high regard by the
   2-12  Texas House of Representatives.
