                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Shirlene Cook was accorded a great honor recently
    1-2  when she was chosen as the recipient of Leadership Beaumont's third
    1-3  annual Distinguished Graduate Award, which recognizes exceptional
    1-4  contributions of leadership, time, and service to the Beaumont
    1-5  community; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Since graduating from the Leadership Beaumont
    1-7  program in 1977, Ms. Cook has been an active member of the boards
    1-8  of YWCA, the Mental Health Association of Jefferson County, the
    1-9  Block Grant Program, Project Care, and Family Services; she also
   1-10  earned a master's degree in vocational counseling, and she has used
   1-11  her professional expertise as state president of the Vocational
   1-12  Home Economics Association; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, A three-time recipient of the State Vocational
   1-14  Counselor's Award, she has also earned the State Legislative Award
   1-15  for Distinguished Service to Vocational Education and was inducted
   1-16  into the Texas Women's Hall of Fame; over the years, Ms. Cook has
   1-17  demonstrated an outstanding commitment to community service and
   1-18  civic leadership, and she is indeed deserving of special praise and
   1-19  recognition on the occasion of her most recent honor; now,
   1-20  therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-22  Legislature hereby honor Shirlene Cook on her receipt of Leadership
   1-23  Beaumont's Distinguished Graduate Award and extend to her warmest
   1-24  best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-2  prepared for Ms. Cook as an expression of high regard by the Texas
    2-3  House of Representatives.
