H.R. No. 1204 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Through its many outstanding civic contributions, 1-2 the Junior Service League of Edinburg has truly helped to make the 1-3 city of Edinburg an ideal community in which to live, work, and 1-4 raise a family; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Founded in 1946 under the sponsorship of Mrs. Howard 1-6 Towell, the league has greatly enhanced the welfare of the Edinburg 1-7 community over the course of the past half century, having donated 1-8 more than 175,000 volunteer hours to an array of important projects 1-9 that have benefited children, the elderly, and countless worthy 1-10 organizations in the city; and 1-11 WHEREAS, With its current membership of 142, including the 1-12 league's first president, Mrs. Hale Schaleban, the Junior Service 1-13 League of Edinburg continues to make many significant contributions 1-14 of lasting benefit to its community today, and those efforts are 1-15 indeed worthy of special legislative recognition at this time; now, 1-16 therefore, be it 1-17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 1-18 Legislature hereby proclaim September 16, 1995, as Junior League 1-19 of Edinburg Day and join with the residents of Edinburg in saluting 1-20 this exceptional organization; and, be it further 1-21 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 1-22 prepared for the Junior Service League of Edinburg as a 1-23 commemoration of this grand occasion and as an expression of high 1-24 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
