                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Rose Marie Blount is retiring from her position as
    1-2  assistant principal for the Contemporary Learning Center in
    1-3  Houston, drawing to a close her distinguished tenure as an educator
    1-4  and administrator that has spanned three decades; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Born September 3, 1941, this outstanding Texan
    1-6  pursued her higher education at Texas Southern University, where
    1-7  she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees and also attained
    1-8  her certification in administration; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, She began her career as an educator with the Houston
   1-10  Independent School District in 1965, and throughout her many years
   1-11  as a classroom instructor and administrator, she always placed the
   1-12  needs of her students above all other considerations; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, A respected voice in her field, Ms. Blount has
   1-14  actively participated in such prestigious educational organizations
   1-15  as the Houston Teacher Association, the Parent Teacher Student
   1-16  Association, the Close-Up Program, and the Association for
   1-17  Supervision and Curriculum Development; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, She also has maintained memberships in a myriad of
   1-19  other noneducation related concerns, including the United Way, the
   1-20  Eleganza Social and Charity Club, the Shepherd Park Terrace Civic
   1-21  Club, and Top Ladies of Distinction; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Possessed of a deep and abiding religious
   1-23  conviction, she shares her faith as an active member of the
   1-24  Northwest Community Baptist Church, where she also is a Sunday
    2-1  school teacher, vacation Bible school principal, and choir
    2-2  directress; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, For 30 years, Rose Blount has tirelessly devoted her
    2-4  time and energies to the betterment of her many students,
    2-5  thoughtfully giving to each the knowledge and guidance they
    2-6  required to be academically successful; as she begins her
    2-7  well-deserved retirement, she can indeed look back with tremendous
    2-8  pride and satisfaction on her exemplary career in the field of
    2-9  education; now, therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-11  Legislature hereby congratulate Rose Marie Blount on her
   2-12  exceptional career as an educator and extend sincere best wishes to
   2-13  her for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-15  prepared for Ms. Blount as an expression of high regard by the
   2-16  Texas House of Representatives.
