                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Yoe High School senior Deena Darst recently became
    1-2  the first state champion in the new University Interscholastic
    1-3  League (UIL) computer applications competition, impressing judges
    1-4  and competitors alike with her mastery of various software
    1-5  programs; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, This demanding competition, which featured some of
    1-7  our state's most talented and determined students, measured
    1-8  proficiency in a wide range of computer applications; Ms. Darst won
    1-9  the event with a near-perfect score by creating flawless documents
   1-10  that utilized numerous word processing, database, spreadsheet, and
   1-11  graphing programs; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, The daughter of Beth and Richard Darst of Cameron,
   1-13  this exceptional young Texan has demonstrated the creativity and
   1-14  technical expertise that are needed to ensure the Lone Star State's
   1-15  economic success in the increasingly competitive global marketplace
   1-16  of the future; her outstanding achievement is a tribute to her
   1-17  intelligence and commitment, as well as to the guidance and support
   1-18  provided by her parents and teachers, and it is indeed appropriate
   1-19  that her efforts be given special legislative recognition; now,
   1-20  therefore, be it
   1-21        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-22  Legislature hereby congratulate Deena Darst of Cameron for winning
   1-23  the first-ever computer applications championship at UIL state
   1-24  competition; and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-2  prepared for Ms. Darst as an expression of high regard by the Texas
    2-3  House of Representatives.
