H.R. No. 1219
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the State
    1-2  of Texas, 74th Legislature, Regular Session, 1995, That House Rule
    1-3  13, Section 9(a), be suspended in part as provided by House Rule
    1-4  13, Section 9(f), to enable the conference committee appointed to
    1-5  resolve the differences in Senate Bill No.  374 to consider and
    1-6  take action on the following specific matters:
    1-7        (1)  House Rule 13, Section 9(a)(4) is suspended to permit
    1-8  the committee to amend Section 18.01(a), Texas Racing Act (Article
    1-9  179e, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), to read as follows:
   1-10        (a)  The Texas Racing Commission is subject to Chapter 325,
   1-11  Government Code (Texas Sunset Act).  Unless continued in existence
   1-12  as provided by that chapter, and except as provided by Subsections
   1-13  (b) and (c) of this section, the commission is abolished and this
   1-14  Act expires September 1, 1997 <1995>.
   1-15        Explanation:  This action is necessary to continue the Texas
   1-16  Racing Commission for a two-year period and require a sunset review
   1-17  again in the upcoming biennium.
   1-18        (2)  House Rule 13, Section 9(a)(4) is suspended to permit
   1-19  the committee to amend the effective date provision of the bill to
   1-20  read as follows:
   1-21        SECTION 3.01.  (a)  Except as provided by Subsection (b),
   1-22  this Act takes effect September 1, 1995.
   1-23        (b)  Section 1.05 of this Act takes effect only if the 74th
    2-1  Legislature, Regular Session, 1995, does not enact other
    2-2  legislation that becomes law and would amend Section 18.01(a),
    2-3  Texas Racing Act (Article 179e, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), to
    2-4  extend the sunset date of the Texas Racing Commission.
    2-5        Explanation:  This will allow the Texas Racing Commission to
    2-6  be continued for two years if it is not continued by passage of
    2-7  sunset legislation under consideration.
