                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Maria Velez Cobarrubias recently marked a happy
    1-2  milestone in her life when she celebrated her 92nd birthday on May
    1-3  12, 1995; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Mrs. Cobarrubias was born on her parents' hacienda
    1-5  in San Luis Potosi, Mexico; after their untimely passing when she
    1-6  was a young girl, she came to Texas to live with her cousin's
    1-7  family in Houston; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, At the age of 18, her life changed dramatically when
    1-9  she met and fell in love with Antonio Cobarrubias; she met him
   1-10  while she was visiting relatives in La Feria, and they quickly
   1-11  realized that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives
   1-12  together; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Their marriage was blessed with six children, Sofia
   1-14  Puente, Silvestre Cobarrubias, Maria Solis, Lola Prado, Johnny
   1-15  Cobarrubias, and Irene Trevino; for many years, Mrs. Cobarrubias
   1-16  devoted herself to her home and to her children, and the love she
   1-17  gave to them has been returned to her many times over by her
   1-18  beloved family; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Her many grandchildren include Jaime Puente, Cindy
   1-20  Garcia, Rosie Silguero, Silvestre Cobarrubias, Jr., Belinda Ibarra,
   1-21  Diana Tamez, Delma Gallegos, Jim Solis, Dina Garcia, Lionel Solis,
   1-22  David Solis, Michael Solis, Gilbert Prado, Thelma Mughrabi, Ricky
   1-23  Prado, Juan Antonio Prado, Steve Cobarrubias, Nelda Cobarrubias,
    2-1  Norma Cobarrubias, Melba Rivera, Noe Trevino, Oren Trevino, and
    2-2  Javier Trevino; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Over the years, the Cobarrubias family has grown to
    2-4  include great-grandchildren David Garcia, Danny Garcia, Jacob
    2-5  Garcia, Eren Garcia, Michelle Puente, Adrian Puente, Nanette
    2-6  Alejandre, Jaime Silguero, Kristian Silguero, Adriana Silguero,
    2-7  Amanda Silguero, Krystal Silguero, Zeke Gallegos, Stacy Gallegos,
    2-8  Marissa Garcia, Annalise Garcia, Lauren Solis, Nathan Solis, Nickie
    2-9  Solis, Patrick Rivera, Eric Rivera, Andrew Justin Sierra, Silvestre
   2-10  Cobarrubias III, and Jesse Cobarrubias; and
   2-11        WHEREAS, The family continues to grow, and Mrs. Cobarrubias
   2-12  recently had the privilege of welcoming her first
   2-13  great-great-grandchild, Edioloro Alejandre, into the world; and
   2-14        WHEREAS, Surrounded by such a large and loving family,
   2-15  Mrs. Cobarrubias has undoubtedly been blessed with one of the
   2-16  greatest gifts in life, and the members of this chamber are pleased
   2-17  to join the Cobarrubias family in extending best wishes to this
   2-18  remarkable and special woman on the joyous occasion of her
   2-19  birthday; now, therefore, be it
   2-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-21  Legislature hereby honor Maria Velez Cobarrubias on the occasion of
   2-22  her 92nd birthday and extend warmest best wishes to her for
   2-23  continued happiness; and, be it further
   2-24        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-25  prepared for her as an expression of highest regard by the Texas
    3-1  House of Representatives.
