                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  the Tejano Connection for its notable contributions in the
    1-3  promotion of Tejano Music in the  Dallas-Fort Worth area; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Founded in 1989, this entertaining and informative
    1-5  weekly periodical offers a directory of Tejano disc jockeys in the
    1-6  metroplex, publishes a list of the top 20 Tejano hits and top 20
    1-7  freestyle hits, and informs its readers of where and when Tejano
    1-8  artists will be performing; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The Tejano Connection is published by Gilbert
   1-10  Cortez, and his exceptional staff currently boasts such talented
   1-11  individuals as Rosemary Cortez, Jesse Ortiz, and Juan Moreno, each
   1-12  of whom has been instrumental in securing success for this sterling
   1-13  publication; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Tejano Music is a significant aspect of the diverse
   1-15  musical tapestry of our state and, through its coverage of this
   1-16  uniquely Texan art form, the Tejano Connection fulfills a vital
   1-17  role that truly merits special legislative recognition; now,
   1-18  therefore, be it
   1-19        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-20  Legislature hereby honor the Tejano Connection for its superb
   1-21  coverage of Tejano Music and extend to its publisher and staff best
   1-22  wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further
   1-23        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   1-24  prepared for the Tejano Connection as an expression of high regard
    2-1  by the Texas House of Representatives.
