                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, For nearly 20 years, members of the Mexican-American
    1-2  Democrats of Texas have worked to advance causes important to the
    1-3  state's large Hispanic population, and their groundbreaking work
    1-4  has helped to ensure that the voices of all our citizens are heard
    1-5  and respected; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Under the capable leadership of past presidents Joe
    1-7  Bernal, Marco Campos, Matt Garcia, Richard Moya, Juan Maldonado,
    1-8  and Nora Linares, the Mexican-American Democrats of Texas have
    1-9  successfully increased the representation of Hispanic Texans at the
   1-10  local, state, and national levels and will undoubtedly continue
   1-11  this proud tradition throughout the years to come; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Following in the footsteps of such groups as La Raza
   1-13  Unida and the Southwest Voter Registration Project, the
   1-14  Mexican-American Democrats of Texas have employed grassroots
   1-15  methods to reach the largest audience possible, and by actively
   1-16  soliciting their constituents' opinions and faithfully representing
   1-17  their concerns, they have demonstrated the truest ideals of the
   1-18  democratic process; now, therefore, be it
   1-19        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-20  Legislature hereby honor the past presidents of the
   1-21  Mexican-American Democrats of Texas and extend to them warmest best
   1-22  wishes for continued success and happiness in all their endeavors;
   1-23  and, be it further
   1-24        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-1  prepared for the Mexican-American Democrats of Texas as an
    2-2  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
