H.R. No. 1241 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, An esteemed citizen of Bay City, Beetle Moore, 1-2 became 80 years young this month, and this momentous event provides 1-3 an opportune time to honor him for the many significant 1-4 contributions he has made to his community and state throughout his 1-5 lifetime; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Mr. Moore is a native of Bay City who was graduated 1-7 with honors from high school there in 1932 and went on to attend 1-8 Rice University from 1932 to 1935; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Following summer employment with Humble Oil and 1-10 Refining Company, now Exxon Company, U.S.A., Mr. Moore remained 1-11 with the company and embarked on a successful career in its employ 1-12 that would span four decades, during which time he advanced from 1-13 his initial employment as a rodman to engineering party chief and 1-14 supervisor of the geophysical field crew covering offshore 1-15 operations as well as the company's first helicopter crews; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Again promoted for his expertise and commitment to 1-17 excellence in the workplace, Mr. Moore served as the supervisor in 1-18 charge of all interpretations of domestic and foreign gravity and 1-19 magnetic operations at the company's Houston headquarters until his 1-20 retirement in February 1979; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Throughout all his endeavors, this fine gentleman 1-22 has enjoyed the love and support of his devoted wife of 55 years, 1-23 the former Marta Wolf; the couple's marriage has been blessed with 1-24 two children, Beetle Moore, Jr., and Elizabeth Moore Norwood, and 2-1 in recent years, their close-knit family has grown to include two 2-2 beloved grandchildren; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Since Mr. Moore's retirement, the couple has 2-4 returned to Bay City, where they are treasured members of the 2-5 community and Mr. Moore has given generously of his time and energy 2-6 to countless worthy projects as a dedicated civic leader; and 2-7 WHEREAS, At this time, it gives the members of this chamber 2-8 great pleasure to honor Beetle Moore for his leadership, 2-9 commitment, and concern for his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be 2-10 it 2-11 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-12 Legislature hereby commend Beetle Moore for his extensive 2-13 contributions to his community and state and extend to him sincere 2-14 best wishes for continued happiness in the years to come; and, be 2-15 it further 2-16 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-17 prepared for Mr. Moore as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-18 House of Representatives.
