                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Delta Lambda Phi National Social Fraternity has,
    1-2  since its founding, served many communities across the state and
    1-3  nation; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Founded in 1986 by Vernon L. Strickland III, Delta
    1-5  Lambda Phi was not immediately blessed with good fortune, but
    1-6  through determined effort and an unshakeable commitment the members
    1-7  of the fraternity were able to overcome the many obstacles that
    1-8  beset them, forging success from adversity in a truly Texan manner;
    1-9  and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Delta Lambda Phi's initial Texas chapter, the Eta
   1-11  chapter, was founded at the University of Houston and the young men
   1-12  who comprise that arm of the fraternity have made significant
   1-13  contributions to the city of Houston and the State of Texas; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Also joining Delta Lambda Phi is the chapter located
   1-15  at Southern Methodist University, which will be officially inducted
   1-16  at the Delta Lambda Phi national convention held July 23-25 in San
   1-17  Jose, California; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, The members of the Delta Lambda Phi National Social
   1-19  Fraternity have made a positive and lasting difference in the lives
   1-20  of many young Texans and Americans, and their goals of promoting
   1-21  dignified and purposeful social, service, and recreational
   1-22  activities for individuals, presenting a strong and positive image
   1-23  with respect to the diversity of all individuals, and leading in
   1-24  the determination of the rights and privileges of individuals in
    2-1  society are indeed commendable; now, therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-3  Legislature hereby recognize the Delta Lambda Phi National Social
    2-4  Fraternity on the occasion of its annual convention; and, be it
    2-5  further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-7  prepared for Delta Lambda Phi National Social Fraternity from the
    2-8  Texas House of Representatives.
