No. 1251 74R14471 BNL-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Alice Finley will soon retire from her position as 1-2 journal clerk for the Texas House of Representatives, and her many 1-3 years of distinguished service are indeed worthy of special 1-4 legislative recognition; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This remarkable woman has served the members of the 1-6 legislature with pride and distinction since 1967, and in the 1-7 course of her career she has worked with every house speaker since 1-8 the Honorable Ben Barnes; and 1-9 WHEREAS, A native of Amarillo, Ms. Finley moved to Austin as 1-10 a young adult and persuaded many of her family members to join her 1-11 in the Capitol City, and she enjoys a close relationship with her 1-12 brother and sister-in-law, Bryan and Linda Finley, who still reside 1-13 in Austin; she also has played a special role in the lives of her 1-14 niece's and nephew's families, Chrystal and Greg Riley and Bill and 1-15 Carolyn Finley, and she is a devoted aunt to great-nephew Greggy 1-16 and great-niece Patty; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Ms. Finley's many contributions to the legislative 1-18 process have earned her the respect and admiration of her 1-19 colleagues here, just as her warmth and good humor have earned 1-20 their friendship and affection; "Big A" has been a very special and 1-21 unique member of the house staff, and she will be sorely missed by 1-22 her many friends and coworkers in the Capitol; now, therefore, be 1-23 it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby honor Alice Finley for her many years of 2-2 legislative service and extend to her warmest best wishes for a 2-3 happy and fulfilling retirement; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-5 prepared for Ms. Finley as an expression of high regard by the 2-6 Texas House of Representatives.
