                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Keisha Merritt for her significant service as a member of the staff
    1-3  of State Representative Glenn Lewis, where she served as
    1-4  administrative aide in charge of community affairs; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, An honors graduate of Eastern Hills High School,
    1-6  Ms. Merritt received a Presidential Scholarship and pursued her
    1-7  higher education at Texas Southern University, where she attained
    1-8  distinction as a member of the National Dean's List for 1992-1993;
    1-9  Ms. Merritt's accomplishments have been a tremendous source of
   1-10  pride to her mother, Alice M. Burns, a math teacher at Dunbar High
   1-11  School in Fort Worth, and to her brother, a student at Grambling
   1-12  State University; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Vitally interested in the workings of the democratic
   1-14  process, Ms. Merritt has already taken an active role in the
   1-15  political arena by giving of her time and talent to the election
   1-16  campaign of Sheila Jackson Lee, informing people about election
   1-17  procedures and encouraging them to vote; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Throughout the 74th legislative session, Ms. Merritt
   1-19  has earned the respect and appreciation of her coworkers for her
   1-20  hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm, and her many outstanding
   1-21  contributions to the legislative process are indeed worthy of
   1-22  special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
   1-23        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-24  Legislature hereby commend Keisha Merritt for her many exceptional
    2-1  contributions during her service as a staff member for the
    2-2  Honorable Glenn Lewis and extend to her best wishes for continued
    2-3  success in the future; and, be it further
    2-4        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-5  prepared for Ms. Merritt as an expression of high regard by the
    2-6  Texas House of Representatives.
