                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The orderly functioning of the Texas House of
    1-2  Representatives during the Regular Session of the 74th Legislature
    1-3  has been greatly facilitated by the diligent efforts of the house
    1-4  sergeant at arms, Rod Welsh, the assistant sergeant at arms, Ann
    1-5  Harlow, the doorkeeper, Pete Peterson, and the office's staff of
    1-6  sergeant messengers; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, Among Mr. Welsh's duties as sergeant at arms are
    1-8  maintaining order in the house chamber and meeting rooms, securing
    1-9  the attendance of members, and assisting all house officers in
   1-10  carrying out their administrative duties through the use of
   1-11  sergeant messengers and other staff; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Ms. Harlow oversees the daily activities of the
   1-13  sergeant messengers, who perform a wide range of important duties
   1-14  such as assisting with the taping of committee meetings, picking up
   1-15  and delivering mail, and photocopying, and their actions contribute
   1-16  to the efficiency of the legislative process in innumerable ways;
   1-17  and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Doorkeeper Pete Peterson, under the supervision of
   1-19  the sergeant at arms, includes in his many responsibilities
   1-20  obtaining recognition from the speaker to announce the arrival of
   1-21  the governor, the senate, or a messenger from the governor or
   1-22  senate, and enforcing the privileges of the floor; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The exceptionally competent sergeant messenger staff
   1-24  includes the following individuals: Michael Ager, Mike Barnett,
    2-1  Yvonne Barton, Britney Beall, David Bedwell, Keith Bendy, Beau
    2-2  Blevins, Liz Brown, Kathy Calderon, Chad Collins, Marcus Cook,
    2-3  Patrick Davis, Ryan Davis, Steve DeLaO, Pat Dennard, Josh Erwin,
    2-4  Jeremy Fischer, Ben Frye, Jaime Gonzalez, Melissa Gonzalez, Kevin
    2-5  Green, Steve Hahn, Daniel Hart, Susannah Harter, Niki Hazelrigg,
    2-6  Deanna Hill, Ron Hill, Bill Honea, Anthony Hope, Derek Johnson,
    2-7  Bret Kadison, Allison Kalisek, Misti Kumpe, Todd Larsen, Amy
    2-8  Longfield, Chris Martinez, Dustin Mattlage, David Maxwell, Marc

   2-13  Charles Verdict, Paul Vogt, Gerald Walker, Terry Warner, and Aubrey
   2-14  Wooley; and
   2-15        WHEREAS, The high degree of professionalism and conscientious
   2-16  efforts of each individual in the house sergeant at arms office
   2-17  have contributed immeasurably to a productive legislative session,
   2-18  and each is truly deserving of special praise and recognition; now,
   2-19  therefore, be it
   2-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-21  Legislature hereby extend to house Sergeant at Arms Rod Welsh,
   2-22  Assistant Sergeant at Arms Ann Harlow, Doorkeeper Pete Peterson,
   2-23  and the sergeant messengers its sincere gratitude and appreciation
   2-24  for the outstanding services they have rendered during this
   2-25  legislative session; and, be it further
   2-26        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-27  prepared for the house sergeant at arms office as an expression of
    3-1  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
