H.R. No. 1257
                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  John Powell for his many significant accomplishments as a
    1-3  businessman and civic leader in the Dallas metropolitan community;
    1-4  and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The owner of Powell Chevrolet Geo Oldsmobile, Inc.,
    1-6  in Dallas, Mr. Powell also serves as vice president of the General
    1-7  Motors Minority Dealers Association and as a member of the
    1-8  Chevrolet National Products Advisory Board; despite his demanding
    1-9  professional life, this highly regarded gentleman is deeply
   1-10  committed to his community, to which he contributes through his
   1-11  service as a lifetime member of the National Association for the
   1-12  Advancement of Colored People and several chambers of commerce and
   1-13  through his sponsorship of numerous Little League baseball and
   1-14  soccer teams and Four Seasons Books for Little People; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, In all aspects of his life, John Powell has
   1-16  demonstrated outstanding leadership, commitment, and dedication to
   1-17  others; a man of great energy and enthusiasm, he is indeed
   1-18  deserving of our highest praise and recognition for his continuing
   1-19  contributions in this regard; now, therefore, be it
   1-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-21  Legislature hereby honor John Powell for his numerous achievements
   1-22  as a businessman and commend him for his exemplary civic
   1-23  involvement; and, be it further
   1-24        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-1  prepared for Mr. Powell as an expression of high regard by the
    2-2  Texas House of Representatives.
