R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The members of this chamber are proud to honor the
1-2 Texas Woman's University Pioneers gymnastics team, which recently
1-3 made history when it won its third consecutive USA Gymnastics
1-4 Collegiate National Championship; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Competitive team gymnastics requires superb
1-6 performances from each member in four difficult and demanding
1-7 events, the balance beam, the floor exercise, the vault, and the
1-8 uneven bars, and the Pioneer athletes performed at the peak of
1-9 their abilities to claim a third consecutive appearance on the
1-10 championship dais; and
1-11 WHEREAS, During the course of this rigorous competition, the
1-12 Texas Woman's University team members combined strength, agility,
1-13 timing, and grace with true championship spirit in order to attain
1-14 their cherished goal; and
1-15 WHEREAS, By posting a total score of 190.725, the Texas
1-16 Woman's University team became the first gymnastics squad to ever
1-17 surpass the 190-point in women's finals competition and the score
1-18 also was their high-water mark for the season; and
1-19 WHEREAS, Head coach Frank Kudlac tirelessly labored to school
1-20 his charges in gymnastic fundamentals and also instilled in them an
1-21 unquenchable will to win; and
1-22 WHEREAS, These exemplary young women are a source of
1-23 tremendous pride to the students and faculty of Texas Woman's
1-24 University and their many supporters in the community, and their
2-1 phenomenal accomplishments are indeed worthy of special legislative
2-2 recognition; now, therefore, be it
2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate the Texas Woman's University
2-5 gymnastics team for winning the 1995 USA Gymnastics Collegiate
2-6 National Championship, their unprecedented third consecutive title
2-7 in that competition, and extend to them best wishes for continued
2-8 success in the future; and, be it further
2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-10 prepared for the team members and coaching staff and for prominent
2-11 display at Texas Woman's University as an expression of high regard
2-12 by the Texas House of Representatives.
