1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
1-7 AN ACT
1-8 relating to designation of United States Highway 290 in Lee County
1-9 as the Henry G. "Bud" Lehman Highway.
1-10 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-11 SECTION 1. United States Highway 290 in Lee County is
1-12 designated as the Henry G. "Bud" Lehman Highway.
1-13 SECTION 2. (a) The Texas Department of Transportation shall
1-14 design and construct markers to be placed along United States
1-15 Highway 290 in Lee County indicating its designation as the Henry
1-16 G. "Bud" Lehman Highway.
1-17 (b) The markers shall include the highway number and any
1-18 other information that the department determines is appropriate.
1-19 (c) Markers shall be erected at each point along the highway
1-20 at which the highway enters Lee County and at intermediate sites
1-21 that the department determines are appropriate.
1-22 (d) The department is responsible for repair and replacement
1-23 of the markers and for maintenance of the grounds surrounding each
1-24 marker.
1-25 (e) The department may accept grants and donations from
1-26 individuals and other entities to assist in financing the
1-27 construction and maintenance of the markers.
1-28 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-29 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-30 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-31 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-32 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-33 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
1-34 passage, and it is so enacted.
