                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                        AN ACT
    1-1  relating to designation of portions of Farm-to-Market Roads 503 and
    1-2  1929 as the Ray C. Stoker, Jr., Highway.
    1-3        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  The portions of Farm-to-Market Road 503 from
    1-5  Valera to Farm-to-Market Road 1929 and Farm-to-Market Road 1929
    1-6  from Farm-to-Market Road 503 to United States Highway 83 are
    1-7  designated the Ray C. Stoker, Jr., Highway.
    1-8        SECTION 2.  (a)  The Texas Department of Transportation shall
    1-9  design and construct markers to be placed along Farm-to-Market
   1-10  Roads 503 and 1929 indicating their designation as the Ray C.
   1-11  Stoker, Jr., Highway.
   1-12        (b)  The markers shall include the highway number and any
   1-13  other information that the department determines is appropriate.
   1-14        (c)  Markers shall be erected at each end of the highway and
   1-15  at intermediate sites that the department determines are
   1-16  appropriate.
   1-17        (d)  The department is responsible for repair and replacement
   1-18  of the markers and for maintenance of the grounds surrounding each
   1-19  marker.
   1-20        (e)  The department may accept grants and donations from
   1-21  individuals and other entities to assist in financing the
   1-22  construction and maintenance of the markers.
   1-23        SECTION 3.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-24  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
    2-1  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
    2-2  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
    2-3  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
    2-4  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
    2-5  passage, and it is so enacted.
