                                        AN ACT
    1-1  relating to the waiver of the visual standards for a commercial
    1-2  driver's license to operate a commercial motor vehicle only in this
    1-3  state.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  The Texas Commercial Driver's License Act
    1-6  (Article 6687b-2, Revised Statutes) is amended by adding Section
    1-7  12B to read as follows:
    1-8        Sec. 12B.  WAIVER OF VISUAL STANDARDS FOR INTRASTATE DRIVER.
    1-9  The department by rule may provide for a waiver of the visual
   1-10  standards, except the standards for distant binocular acuity, for a
   1-11  commercial driver's license in Subpart E of 49 C.F.R. Part 391, if
   1-12  the person who is applying for or who has been issued the license
   1-13  is a person who drives a commercial motor vehicle only in this
   1-14  state.
   1-15        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-16  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-17  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-18  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-19  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-20  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-21  passage, and it is so enacted.
