    1-6                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-7                                AN ACT
    1-8  relating to the waiver of the visual standards for a commercial
    1-9  driver's license to operate a commercial motor vehicle only in this
   1-10  state.
   1-11        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-12        SECTION 1.  The Texas Commercial Driver's License Act
   1-13  (Article 6687b-2, Revised Statutes) is amended by adding Section
   1-14  12B to read as follows:
   1-15        Sec. 12B.  WAIVER OF VISUAL STANDARDS FOR INTRASTATE DRIVER.
   1-16  The department by rule may provide for a waiver of the visual
   1-17  standards for a commercial driver's license in Subpart E of 49
   1-18  C.F.R. Part 391, if the person who is applying for or who has been
   1-19  issued the license is a person who drives a commercial motor
   1-20  vehicle only in this state.
   1-21        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-22  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-23  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-24  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-25  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-26  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-27  passage, and it is so enacted.
