No. 496 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-1 AN ACT 1-2 relating to the contribution of vacation leave time by certain 1-3 county employees to a county sick leave pool. 1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-5 SECTION 1. Section 157.072, Local Government Code, is 1-6 amended to read as follows: 1-7 Sec. 157.072. Authority to Establish Program for Sick Leave 1-8 Pool. (a) The commissioners court of a county may establish a 1-9 program within the county to allow an employee to voluntarily 1-10 transfer sick leave time earned by the employee to a county sick 1-11 leave pool. 1-12 (b) The commissioners court of a county with a population of 1-13 one million or more may allow an employee to voluntarily transfer 1-14 vacation leave time earned by the employee to a county sick leave 1-15 pool. 1-16 SECTION 2. Section 157.074(b), Local Government Code, is 1-17 amended to read as follows: 1-18 (b) On approval by the administrator, in a fiscal year the 1-19 employee may transfer to the county sick leave pool not less than 1-20 one day or more than three days of accrued sick leave time, or 1-21 accrued vacation leave time in a county operating under Section 1-22 157.072(b), earned by the employee. The administrator shall credit 1-23 the pool with the amount of time contributed by the employee and 1-24 shall deduct the same amount of time from the amount to which the 2-1 employee is entitled, as if the employee had used the time for 2-2 personal purposes. 2-3 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 1995. 2-4 SECTION 4. The importance of this legislation and the 2-5 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 2-6 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 2-7 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 2-8 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
