                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to an automobile allowance paid to district judges.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 32.303, Government Code, is amended to
    1-5 read as follows:
1-6 Sec. 32.303. AUTOMOBILE ALLOWANCE AND EXPENSES. A
1-7 commissioners court may not pay the judges of the district courts
1-8 in the county an automobile allowance <in an amount set by the
1-9 commissioners court> for automobile expenses incurred in performing
1-10 official duties. Automobile expenses incurred in performing
1-11 official duties and claimed by a judge of a district court may be
1-12 reimbursed by a commissioners court.
1-13 SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to
1-14 automobile expenses that a judge of a district court in a county
1-15 incurs in a fiscal year of the county that begins after September
   1-16 1, 1995.
1-17 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 1995.
1-18 SECTION 4. The importance of this legislation and the
1-19 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-20 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-21 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-22 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
