                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to the duty of the Texas Department of Mental Health and
    1-3  Mental Retardation to evaluate and revise its sliding fee
    1-4  schedules.
    1-5        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-6        SECTION 1.  Section 552.017, Health and Safety Code, is
    1-7  amended by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
    1-8        (e)  The department shall evaluate and revise the fee
    1-9  schedule at least once every five years.
   1-10        SECTION 2.  Section 593.075, Health and Safety Code, is
   1-11  amended by adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
   1-12        (e)  The department shall evaluate and revise the fee
   1-13  schedule at least once every five years.
   1-14        SECTION 3.  Not later than January 1, 1996, the Texas
   1-15  Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation shall evaluate
   1-16  and revise its sliding fee schedules as required by Sections
   1-17  552.017(e) and 593.075(e), Health and Safety Code, as added by this
   1-18  Act.
   1-19        SECTION 4.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-20  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-21  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-22  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-23  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-24  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
    2-1  passage, and it is so enacted.
