                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1                                AN ACT
    1-2  relating to an emergency appropriation to Southwest Texas State
    1-3  University.
    1-4        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-5        SECTION 1.  (a)  In addition to amounts previously
    1-6  appropriated for the current fiscal biennium, the sum of $1,449,405
    1-7  is appropriated for the remainder of the fiscal year ending August
    1-8  31, 1995, from the general revenue fund to Southwest Texas State
    1-9  University for the purpose of paying the costs of repair and
   1-10  reconstruction of buildings and other structures damaged by
   1-11  hailstorm and water.
   1-12        (b)  The amount appropriated by this section may be used to
   1-13  reimburse Southwest Texas State University's institutional funds,
   1-14  as defined by Section 51.009(b), Education Code, for any amount
   1-15  previously paid for work undertaken to repair or reconstruct the
   1-16  buildings and other structures, regardless of the fiscal year in
   1-17  which the payments were made.
   1-18        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-19  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-20  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-21  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-22  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-23  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-24  passage, and it is so enacted.
