    1-8                                AN ACT
    1-9  relating to the Sul Ross State University Uvalde Study Center.
   1-10        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-11        SECTION 1.  (a)  The name of the Sul Ross State University
   1-12  Uvalde Study Center is changed to Sul Ross State University Rio
   1-13  Grande College.
   1-14        (b)  A reference in law to the Sul Ross State University
   1-15  Uvalde Study Center means Sul Ross State University Rio Grande
   1-16  College.
   1-17        SECTION 2.  Section 96.01, Education Code, is amended to read
   1-18  as follows:
   1-19        Sec. 96.01.  SUL ROSS STATE UNIVERSITY.  Sul Ross State
   1-20  University is a coeducational institution of higher education
   1-21  located in the city of Alpine, with an upper-level educational
   1-22  center known as Sul Ross State University Rio Grande College
   1-23  operated in the cities of Del Rio, Eagle Pass, and Uvalde.  The
   1-24  university<.  It> is under the management and control of the Board
   1-25  of Regents, Texas State University System.
   1-26        SECTION 3.  Subchapter A, Chapter 96, Education Code, is
   1-27  amended by adding Section 96.02 to read as follows:
   1-28        Sec. 96.02.  REFERENCE TO UVALDE STUDY CENTER.  A reference
   1-29  in law to the Uvalde Study Center of Sul Ross State University
   1-30  means Sul Ross State University Rio Grande College.
   1-31        SECTION 4.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-32  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-33  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-34  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-35  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-36  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-37  passage, and it is so enacted.
