No. 915 1-2 (In the Senate - Filed March 3, 1995; March 6, 1995, read 1-3 first time and referred to Committee on State Affairs; 1-4 April 21, 1995, reported favorably by the following vote: Yeas 9, 1-5 Nays 0; April 21, 1995, sent to printer.) 1-6 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED 1-7 AN ACT 1-8 relating to the application of the open meetings law to certain 1-9 meetings of the board of directors of an industrial development 1-10 corporation. 1-11 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: 1-12 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 551, Government Code, is 1-13 amended by adding Section 551.085 to read as follows: 1-14 Sec. 551.085. DELIBERATIONS OF INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT 1-15 CORPORATION; CLOSED MEETING. (a) The board of directors of an 1-16 industrial development corporation may conduct a closed meeting to 1-17 deliberate information that pertains to the finances of an 1-18 applicant for assistance from the corporation. 1-19 (b) In this section, "industrial development corporation" 1-20 has the meaning assigned by the Development Corporation Act of 1979 1-21 (Article 5190.6, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes). 1-22 SECTION 2. The importance of this legislation and the 1-23 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an 1-24 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the 1-25 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several 1-26 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended, 1-27 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its 1-28 passage, and it is so enacted. 1-29 * * * * *
