                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-1 AN ACT
1-2 relating to the compensation of an official district court
    1-3 reporter.
1-4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-5 SECTION 1. Sections 52.051(a) and (c), Government Code, are
1-6 amended to read as follows:
1-7 (a) An official district court reporter shall be paid a
1-8 salary set by the order of the judge of the court, subject to
1-9 commissioners court approval. This salary is in addition to
1-10 transcript fees, fees for a statement of facts, and other necessary
   1-11 expenses authorized by law.
1-12 (c) An order increasing the salary of an official district
1-13 court reporter must be submitted to the commissioners court of each
1-14 county in the judicial district for approval not later than
1-15 September 1 immediately before the adoption of the county budget
1-16 for the next year. A commissioners court may allow an extension of
   1-17 this time limit.
1-18 SECTION 2. Section 52.051(d), Government Code, is repealed.
1-19 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-20 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-21 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-22 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-23 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
1-24 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
2-1 passage, and it is so enacted.
