    1-6                         A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
    1-7                                AN ACT
    1-8  relating to security devices in housing owned or operated by
    1-9  certain public or private colleges or universities.
   1-10        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
   1-11        SECTION 1.  Subsection (a), Section 92.152, Property Code, is
   1-12  amended to read as follows:
   1-13        (a)  This subchapter does not apply to a room in a hotel,
   1-14  motel, or inn or to similar transient housing or to residential
   1-15  housing owned or operated by a public or private college or
   1-16  university accredited by a recognized accrediting agency as defined
   1-17  under Section 61.003, Education Code, or to residential housing
   1-18  operated by preparatory schools accredited by the Texas Education
   1-19  Agency, a regional accrediting agency, or any accrediting agency
   1-20  recognized by the commissioner of education.
   1-21        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-22  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-23  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-24  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-25  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-26  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-27  passage, and it is so enacted.
