A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1-1 relating to deductions from the compensation of county employees
1-2 for payment to a credit union.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Section 155.001, Local Government Code, is
1-5 amended to read as follows:
1-6 Sec. 155.001. DEDUCTIONS AUTHORIZED IN COUNTIES <WITH 20,000
1-7 OR MORE INHABITANTS>; PURPOSES. (a) The commissioners court, on
1-8 the request of a county employee, may authorize a payroll deduction
1-9 to be made from the employee's wages or salary for payment to a
1-10 credit union.
1-11 (b) In a county with a population of 20,000 or more
1-12 <inhabitants>, the commissioners court, on the request of a county
1-13 employee, may authorize a payroll deduction to be made from the
1-14 employee's wages or salary for:
1-15 (1) <payment to a credit union;>
1-16 <(2)> payment of membership dues in a labor union or a
1-17 bona fide employees association; or
1-18 (2) <(3)> payment of fees for parking in a
1-19 county-owned facility.
1-20 SECTION 2. The heading to Subchapter A, Chapter 155, Local
1-21 Government Code, is amended to read as follows:
1-22 SUBCHAPTER A. AUTHORIZED DEDUCTIONS FOR COUNTIES
1-23 <IN COUNTY WITH 20,000 OR MORE INHABITANTS>
1-24 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
2-1 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
2-2 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
2-3 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
2-4 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
2-5 and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
2-6 passage, and it is so enacted.
