                                 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
                                        AN ACT
    1-1  relating to allowance of prior credit in a retirement plan for
    1-2  certain transferees to the police department.
    1-3        BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
    1-4        SECTION 1.  Chapter 76, Acts of the 50th Legislature, 1947
    1-5  (Article 6243g-1, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is amended to
    1-6  read as follows:
    1-7        Sec. 16.  No prior credit shall be allowed for service in
    1-8  another department in the city to any person who transfers from the
    1-9  <some> other department <in the city> to the police department
   1-10  except for a police officer who was transferred involuntarily from
   1-11  the other city department to the police department.  For example,
   1-12  if one is transferred from some other department of the city to the
   1-13  city police department, such person's service will be computed from
   1-14  the day he enters the city police department.
   1-15        SECTION 2.  The importance of this legislation and the
   1-16  crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
   1-17  emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
   1-18  constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
   1-19  days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended,
   1-20  and that this Act take effect and be in force from and after its
   1-21  passage, and it is so enacted.
