A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
1-1 relating to the rural physician assistant loan reimbursement
1-2 program.
1-3 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1-4 SECTION 1. Subsection (a), Section 23, Physician Assistant
1-5 Licensing Act (Article 4495b-1, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes), is
1-6 amended to read as follows:
1-7 (a) The council shall designate annually a portion of the
1-8 revenue generated under this Act from physician assistant licensing
1-9 fees to be set aside to provide student loan reimbursement for
1-10 graduates of physician assistant training programs in this state
1-11 who practice in rural health professional shortage areas and rural
1-12 medically underserved areas <identified by the Texas Department of
1-13 Health>.
1-14 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 1995.
1-15 SECTION 3. The importance of this legislation and the
1-16 crowded condition of the calendars in both houses create an
1-17 emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
1-18 constitutional rule requiring bills to be read on three several
1-19 days in each house be suspended, and this rule is hereby suspended.
